Sometimes it makes my quoting a lot easier if you are able to identify the type of lock you require repairing or replacing.
Below is simply a guide to help you decide. Please do not worry if you are unsure, as I can usually determine this over the phone prior to your arrival by asking a few simple questions.
Does your door have a letterbox, and where is it situated?
Probably a Euro-style lock, the handle is loose or very stiff.
Probably a rim-style lock, i.e. round and commonly called a Yale-type lock, has this been locked or closed without key?
This is usually situated lower on the door and called a mortise. It has to be manually locked and could be included with a sash lock.
Any other locking device fitted to door that would stop it being opened (chain or bolts )
